About Me

Cynthia Rosado grew up with a love for stories, spending her days reading, drawing, and finding magic in the everyday. After years as an ESL elementary school teacher and literacy coach, she followed her lifelong pull towards children’s literature and began creating heartfelt, witty picture books and early readers, often with twisty, unexpected endings.

She is currently developing a range of new picture books and early readers that center on learning, character growth, and zany, funny adventures. Some of her current projects include Bear and Raccoon, The Wishbone, Miguelito’s Escape, and Christmas Empanada. Her illustration style blends humor, warmth, and the everyday stories of her Puerto Rican heritage. She brings her characters to life through handmade wool-felted figures.

Cynthia has visitied schools, like PS 165, where she previously taught, and participated in their District Day to share storytelling and drawing techniques with students.

She’s based in Brooklyn, NY and lives with her husband, Tony, and daughter, Isabela, along with a plethora of fish. When she’s not writing or illustrating, you can find her wool felting, cheering for the Mets, baking, and exploring nature with a sketchbook in hand.

Cynthia is an active SCBWI member and constant student of art and storytelling. You can follow her on Instagram at @CynthiaRosado_
